Hong Kong Domestic Helper Agency | ZenCare Employment

Transparent matching, compliant paperwork, clear fees

When employers search for a “domestic helper agency”, “employment agency”, “maid agency”, or “which helper agency is better” in Hong Kong, they often face many similar ads and prices. What usually decides the outcome is not a slogan, but whether the licence can be verified, candidates and process are transparent, contracts and immigration documents are compliant, and  fees are stated clearly once.

ZenCare Employment Resolve serves families with domestic helper matching, Indonesian helper packages, local contract completion / transfer (direct hire), and renewal follow-up. This page explains how to choose an agency, ZenCare’s scope, fee overview, and hiring steps, with links to live service pages and a how-to guide—so you can see the full picture before submitting requirements.

Five points when choosing an agency

  1. Verifiable legal status — Company name, contacts, and employment agency licence are public and consistent. (ZenCare licence no. 83999—see fee / licence display.)

  2. Clear service boundaries — What is agency fee vs government / third-party costs.

  3. You can take part in selection — Review profile highlights; arrange video or in-person interview.

  4. Compliant documents with dedicated follow-up — Standard Employment Contract (ID 407), immigration and insurance with a clear timeline.

  5. After-placement contact — Scope for settling-in, rematch, termination, or renewal is stated.

Agency vs “employment centre”—what’s the difference?

In everyday Hong Kong usage, “domestic helper agency”, “employment agency”, “employment centre”, “helper company”, and “maid centre” are often used interchangeably for licensed employment agencies that help employers find foreign domestic helpers, handle paperwork, and follow through on arrival. For employers, the label matters less than the five points above. When comparing “which is better”, list family needs (childcare / elderly care / housework, budget, expected start date) first, then check each agency—don’t compare on one lowest quote alone.

Why not compare only on the lowest price?

The “cheapest” agency fee is not always the lowest total cost. Before paying a deposit, confirm: licence and payee identity match; written quote covers agency fee, third parties, refund / rematch / cancellation; Standard Employment Contract (ID 407) is used; after-sales scope is clear. An agency cannot take over the employer’s duties under the Employment Ordinance.

ZenCare’s stance: transparency beats exaggerated guarantees. Profiles, interviews, document follow-up, and fee boundaries can—and should—be stated clearly.

Hiring process (4 steps)

  1. Consultation & requirements — Submit requirements at Contact, or WhatsApp 9084 5027.

  2. Shortlist & interview — Profile highlights; video or in-person interview.

  3. Contract & visa documents — Standard contract, immigration forms, insurance and evidence.

  4. Arrival / start follow-up — Handover arrangements and early contact channel.

Timelines depend on candidate source, document readiness, and Immigration processing. Local transfer / direct hire is usually shorter than overseas new hire.

FAQ

Must FDHs use the Standard Employment Contract (ID 407)?
Yes—hiring a foreign domestic helper requires the Immigration Department’s Standard Employment Contract (ID 407) and related immigration and employment rules. ImmD: https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/forms/id407.html

How is the minimum wage calculated?
FDHs have a Minimum Allowable Wage. From 2026-10-03, contracts signed on or after that date: HK$5,220 per month. Labour Department: https://www.fdh.labour.gov.hk/en/

What is food allowance? Must I pay it separately?
Employers must provide free food; if not, food allowance remains at least HK$1,236 per month (govt announcement 2026-10-02—unchanged). EAA: https://www.eaa.labour.gov.hk/en/news.html?news-id=279&news-year=2026

Agency vs hiring yourself?
Direct hire may reduce some agency fees, but the employer bears selection, verification, paperwork, and time risk. ZenCare can also assist with local transfer paperwork.

How does ZenCare charge? Hidden fees?
See prices above and the Fee page. Airfare and insurance are separate; ask for other third-party costs in writing.

How do I pick a reliable agency?
Read the how-to guide and check the five points above agency by agency.
