Important Notes
Employers who intend to hire a foreign domestic helper must meet the legal income requirements. The household income must not be less than HK$15,000 per month (for each helper employed), or the employer must possess assets of equivalent value sufficient to cover the entire employment contract period.
Employers are required to provide the following supporting documents when signing the contract:
Proof of Income
-
The most recent Notice of Assessment and Tax Demand Note (annual income not less than HK$180,000); or
-
Bank autopay salary records for the latest three months (monthly income not less than HK$15,000); or
-
Employment letter issued by the company together with the latest three months’ pay slips (monthly income not less than HK$15,000); or
-
Bank statements or certificates for time deposit or savings accounts covering the past six months (total balance not less than HK$360,000).
Proof of Identity
-
Copy of the employer’s Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card; and
-
Details of household members residing at the employment address: Name, Year of Birth, HKID Number, and relationship with the employer; and
-
Details of current and/or previous domestic helpers: Name, HKID Number, and validity period of work visa; and
-
Proof of residential address for the most recent three months (utility bills issued by service providers such as water, electricity, gas, fixed-line telephone, cable TV, or rates).
Notes:
-
If the income or address proof is not under the employer’s name, a copy of the marriage certificate or birth certificate must be provided.

If the employer is aged 70 or above (year-based calculation), a copy of the guarantor’s HKID Card (aged between 18 and 70) and a signed guarantor undertaking letter must also be submitted.
