Important Notes

Employers intending to hire foreign domestic helpers must meet the legal financial requirement. A household must have a monthly income of not less than HKD 15,000 (calculated per helper employed), or possess sufficient and steady financial resources to demonstrate the ability to employ and support the helper throughout the contract period.

 

Accordingly, when signing the employment contract, the employer must provide the following documents:

 

Proof of Financial Means

  • Proof of household income for the past three months; Or

  • Tax demand note of HKD 180,000 or above; Or

  • Fixed deposit of HKD 360,000 or above

Proof of Identity

  • Copy of the employer’s Hong Kong Identity Card; And

  • Roster of household members and domestic helper; And

  • Most recent three months’ utility bills (e.g. Water Bill, Electricity Bill, Town Gas Bill, Landline Bill, etc.)
